I have had good luck so far with Remflex exhaust manifold gaskets. http://www.remflex.com
They sell those thick "flexible graphite" exhaust gaskets that are "Guaranteed" to not leak. They are a little pricey - $58.99 a pair. I think someone else on this list or the galaxie club list recommended them in the past.
A couple years ago, I had an exhaust leak on one side and ordered a set. The car was at a shop so I had them delivered there for that guy to do it (I HATE dealing with exhaust manifolds). The package was damaged in shipping, and one of the gaskets was broken. Luckily I only planned to do the leaky side, so the shop used that one good gasket, and never filed a claim with UPS or Remflex on the damage, so I was out one gasket but never followed up.
I ran the car for almost 2 years and that side never developed a leak. However, the OTHER side did, and so then I was frustrated that I never followed up on the damaged shipment. Oh well, the engine blew up a couple months later anyway, so it was moot.
Well, now that the engine is being rebuilt and even though the heads and the manifolds are resurfaced/decked, I decided to go with a new set of Remflex exhaust gaskets. I called them to figure out which ones to order (They have a few different part numbers for FE - another story).
While on the phone, I mentioned to the guy the past history - "I like your gaskets but last time I only got to use one of them because..."
He immediately stated that he would sell me this set for half price for my trouble! I told him I was not looking for a discount, and that it was my own fault for not following up, and I wasn't even sure I had the receipt. It was 2 years ago, afterall. He replied that it was no problem at all and he was glad to do it.
Naturally I hope (and he probably hopes) that this experience will encourage others to deal with this company.
